Finding Our Talk: Hawaii
A sustained effort by Hawaiians determined to keep their language alive began in 1986, with the lifting of a ban on the Hawaiian language. This video shows the movement’s success, from language “nests” for infants to post-graduate studies and the nation’s first mainstream television news program in a Native language.
