Jeremiah BitsuiKate Montgomery wrote and directed Christmas in the Clouds, which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win Best Native Film at the Santa Fe Film Festival and the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Austin Film Festival. She is the executive producer of Ever Since the World Ended, winner of the Audience Award at the 2002 San Francisco Independent Film Festival and the Best Film Award at the 2002 London Sci-Fi Film Festival. Montgomery has produced commercials and industrial films for Apple Computer, MTV, and The Wall Street Journal, and worked as a marketing executive at The Wall Street Journal for eight years. She is the founder and co-chair of Chase the Blues, an annual blues dance party and auction that has raised over $300,000 for the pediatric ER and Trauma Center at Children's Hospital in Oakland, California. Montgomery is a member of the Directors Guild of America, the Writers Guild of America, and the Writers Guild of Canada. She graduated from Sweet Briar College in Virginia and lives in Piedmont, California.

"For me, writing is very similar to Improv. I tend to "become" each character along the way. Sometimes the process becomes so natural and instant, it feels like the characters have a mind of their own and that the script is just writing itself. That's how it was with Christmas in the Clouds. Once it's on the page, bringing comedy to the screen is all about casting,
coverage, and editing. And it also helps to be able to go without sleep for
months at a time!"
