Political
theorist and author Winona LaDuke (White Earth Ojibwe)
is the program director of Honor the Earth, a Native environmental
advocacy organization, and the founding director of the White
Earth Land Recovery Project. LaDuke has written several books
on indigenous political issues and one novel. Recovering the
Sacred, published by South End Press, is her most recent book.
In 1996 and 2000, she ran as vice-presidential candidate of the
Green Party with presidential candidate Ralph Nader. LaDuke received
the International Reebok Human Rights Award in 1989. She is a
founding board member of the Indigenous Women's Network.
