and producer Dale Kruzic lives

worked for two PBS-affiliates, KNME and KCTS, for fifteen years.
At KNME, he became was originator and executive producer for the
cultural affairs series COLORES!. Many of Kruzic's films chronicle
the lives of Native residents of the Southwest, from Apache artist
Allen Houser to the Zia Hot Shots, a wheelchair basketball team
featured in the award-wining documentary Kiss My Wheels. Kruzic
was co-executive producer and editor for Surviving Columbus, which
won an Emmy and the George F. Peabody award. Kruzic studied film
and television at San Francisco State University and grew up in
the Bay Area.
On the making of Looking Towards Home: "What really
inspired us about making this film is the fact that most people,
especially non-Indians, have no idea that a majority of Native
people live in cities and not on reservations. There are still
a lot of stereotypes out there that continue to distort our beliefs
and perceptions about other cultures. The idea that we can change
some of those misperceptions is a driving force behind the vision."
