At the Movies presents premieres and cinema classics in
New York and celebrates the work of Native Americans in the movies--directors,
producers, writers, actors, musicians and community activists.
Introduced by the filmmakers and other speakers, eight programs
will be screened between May - October, 2004.
Among the directors and actors featured in previous series have
been Evan Adams, Chris Eyre, Gary Farmer, Jim Jarmusch, Shelley
Niro, Sandra Sunrising Osawa, Randy Redroad, and Loretta Todd.

THE ARCTIC TO THE AMAZON: A FAITH HUBLEY RETROSPECTIVE
A focus on the work of Faith Hubley (1925-2002), whose animations
were inspired by world cultures and indigenous oral traditions.
Her revolutionary, independent visions connect deeply to Mother
Earth and her inhabitants.

Golden Sun and Starlore
Discussion follows with animator Emily Hubley, daughter of
Oscar-winning animators Faith and John Hubley. Ms.Hubley has been
named a 2004 Annenberg Film Fellow at the Sundance Institute.

SUMMER/AMERICAN ALOHA
Films with musical performances from Nunavut and Hawai'i are presented
as a joint program with Native Sounds Downtown. Both films
are selections of the 2003 Native American
Film and Video Festival.

Presented in collaboration with the Center for Religion and Media
at New York University. Discussion follows with Vilsoni Hereniko
and Jeannette Paulson.
