 Director
Tim Southam's new comedy series Moose TV, set
in an indigenous community in northern Quebec, is broadcast weekly
in Canada on Showtime Television. His mini-series One Dead
Indian won awards for Best Direction, Best Writing, and Best
Sound at the 2006 Gemini Awards, where his performing arts program
Perrault Dancer also won awards for Best Direction and
Best Original Music Score. He is currently directing two episodes
of jPod, adapted from the novel of the same name by Douglas
Coupland. He has directed episodes of other popular Canadian television
series such as Blue Murder, 'Da Kink in My Hair,
Naked Josh, and Stephen King's Dead Zone. Southam's
films include The Bay of Love and Sorrow and Island
of the Dead. He has three feature film projects in development,
Danny King of the Basement, Kiss of the Fur Queen,
and Now You Are Flying. Through the Directors Guild of
Canada (DGC) Southam has an active voice in Canadian cultural
policy issues, and he is a member of the editorial advisory board
for the DGC's Montage magazine. Southam received a BA in
Philosophy & Economics from the Unversity of Toronto and an
MA in Political Economy from the London School of Economics. He
was born in Hamilton, Ontario, grew up in Quebec, and lives in
Toronto, Ontario.
