Shelby Ray

Shelby RayShelby Ray (Navajo) is the youth coordinator of Outta Yer Backpack Media Collective, a community video program coordinated by Indigenous Action Media and Native Movement. Outta Yer Backpack distributes portable media kits and trains members in video production. As youth coordinator, Ray's responsibilities include mentorship, outreach to spread the use of the media kits among grassroots Native organizations, and fundraising. Her own video, Marble Gangsta premiered at the 2006 Southwest Native American Film and Video Festival, held at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Arizona. Ray is a member of Youth of the Peaks, which is part of the Save the Peaks organization, formed in opposition to the expansion of the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort in the San Francisco Peaks, north of Flagstaff.
