Gerald
McMaster (Plains Cree/Siksika First Nation) is curator
of Canadian Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. From
2000 to 2004, he was deputy assistant director for cultural resources
and the director's special assistant for Mall exhibitions at the
National Museum of the American Indian. During his tenure at NMAI,
he contributed to work on the museum's permanent exhibitions and
curated First American Art (2004) and New Tribe/New
York (2005). His awards and recognitions include the 2005
national Aboriginal Achievement Award and Canada's highest honor,
the Order of Canada.
