 Sally
Kewayosh (Ojibwe/Cree) is a director, writer, and producer. Born in London, Ontario, Kewayosh is a member of Walpole Island First Nation. Before moving to New York, she worked with Kem Murch Productions and taught video production to youth at Wiiji Nimbawiyaang Elementary School at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Kewayosh’s first film, the wry short Smoke Break, screened at the imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival in Toronto and in New York at NMAI’s Native American Film + Video Festival and in a screening organized by the Tribeca Film Institute.
Kewayosh received a BA in film studies from the University of Western Ontario and her MFA in film and television production at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her thesis film, Cousins, shot entirely on the Walpole Island Indian Reserve with a cast of local residents, had its world premiere at imagineNATIVE.
