Katie Jennings

Katie JenningsKatie Jennings has worked as an artist and educator for 20 years. Since 2001, she has overseen video projects at IslandWood, a 255-acre outdoor learning center in Bainbridge Island, Washington, that teaches environmental and community stewardship. Her film Teachings of the Tree People: The Work of Bruce Miller began as a small project to document the production of cedar mats commissioned by IslandWood, and became a portrait of cedar weaver Bruce Miller's life and commitment to Skokomish traditional knowledge. Jennings has directed films for the Seattle Art Museum and formerly worked as an executive producer for KCTS, a PBS affiliate in Seattle. She is the director of Huchoosedah: Traditions of the Heart, which has been broadcast by PBS and the BBC. Jennings has taught documentary filmmaking in Washington, DC at George Washington University, and in Seattle at 911 Media Arts, the Seattle Art Institute, and the University of Washington. She received a BA from Harvard University and lives in Seattle, Washington.
