Cody Cayou

February 2009

Cody CayouIn 2005 Cody Cayou (Swinomish) learned video production as part of Longhouse Media's Native Lens youth video project and has continued to work on a number of productions with the organization, including the documentary March Point. The film followed three young men on the Swinomish reservation as they make a film investigating the impact of an oil refinery on the reservation's lands. Produced collaboratively by five filmmakers in Longhouse Media, March Point was screened nationally and internationally, and broadcast in 2008 as part of the PBS documentary series Independent Lens. Cayou's favorite parts of his culture include going to summer powwows, bone games, canoe pulling and visiting the sweathouse.
