The P’urhepecha of Michoacan have preserved and interpreted
their history in the story of a young woman whose task is to tell
the inhabitants of the Echerio (the world) of the dark destiny
decreed by the gods: the fall of the Lords of the Eagle and the
invasion of P’urhepecha lands by the Spaniards.
