"Nuestro Barro/Our Clay"Nuestro Barro/Our Clay
(2010, 18 min.) MEXICO
Director: Pedro Daniel López (Tzotzil)
Producer: Dolores Santiz Gomez, Pedro Daniel López

Amatenango del Valle, Chiapas, is a Tzeltal town renowned for its pottery, which is made using traditional methods. Nuestro Barro/Our Clay is the story of two women belonging to a pottery collective there. Amatenangeras have been marketing their products for hundreds of years, acting as the community’s intermediaries with the outside world. Through this experience the women of Amatenango have become the force that sparks community activism.
