"Haku Inoa: To Weave a Name"

"Haku Inoa: To Weave a Name"Haku Inoa: To Weave a Name
(2009, 12 min.) US
Director: Christen Marquez (Native Hawaiian)

The filmmaker's curiosity about the meaning of her enigmatic Hawaiian name leads to a journey of healing family relationships shaped by a mother’s mental illness, and brings up questions about the cultural identities of “on-island” and “off-island” Native Hawaiians. This short film  is a version of a longer work of the same name currently in development.
