"Finding Our Talk: Sami"

"Finding Our Talk: Sami"Finding Our Talk: Sami
(2009, 24 min.) CANADA
Director: Reaghan Tarbell (Mohawk)
Producer: Paul M. Rickard (Cree)

The reindeer-herding culture and language of Norway’s Sámi people still thrives in the country’s far north, despite past government policies of assimilation, in activities as diverse as a Sámi language theater company, a children’s radio program, and a band’s contemporary take on the Sámi musical tradition of yoiking.
