Part of the long cycle of initiation ceremonies of the Xavante people, the Wai'a celebration introduces young men to spiritual life. The videomaker documents the emergence of the young men of his own initiation group into their ceremonial roles. He speaks with his father and other leaders of the ceremonies who stress the role of discipline learned by the initiates and the importance of video in preserving the practices.
